TEXAS authorities are searching for the teenager who was found guilty of killing four people while driving drunk back in 2013, then claimed “affluenza” as part of his defence.
Ethan Couch’s probation officer had been unable to contact him and his mother for several days.
“I can confirm only that we are looking into the whereabouts of Ethan and Tonya Couch at this time,” district attorney’s office spokeswoman Samantha Jordan told The Dallas Morning News.
Couch’s sentence of 10 years’ probation without time in jail or a juvenile detention facility instantly became controversial.
So did his defence team’s argument that the teen suffered from “affluenza,” a condition in which Couch was unable to control his behaviour because of the extravagant, consequence-free lifestyle his wealth enabled.
At the time of the trial, the condition was not recognised by psychology’s official diagnostic manual.
A video posted to Twitter this month allegedly shows Couch at a party with alcohol.
Affluenza Teen Ethan Couch’s Beer Pong Video

“The key to the whole thing is, did he violate a term or condition of his probation?” an lawyer unaffiliated with the case told KTVT.
The possibly incriminating video was posted by the handle Blonde Spectre and shows a group of young men gathered around a table littered with beer cans and red party cups.
One of the players lines up to take a shot with a ping-pong ball, but instead throws himself across the room, landing on top of the table sending beer flying.
As the camera pans around to follow his jump, another man bearing a resemblance to Couch can be seen standing next to the table clapping his hands and jumping up and down.
According to WFAA, ‘Blonde Spectre’ is actually 21-year-old Hannah Hardee, who told the station she wasn’t at the party with Couch and didn’t film the video.
Instead, Hardee said she found the clip elsewhere on Twitter and decided to save it, then sent it to officials after Couch’s offending seemed to have passed under their radar.

She said: “It was just making me mad that they were not taking any of this seriously. And after seeing the interviews with the victims’ families and stuff, it just really gets to me.”  #yungrix#
